In the 2013-2014 academic year, MCCA raised over £26,000 in funds to benefit the children at Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School. These funds will be used to purchase equipment, build facilities and support activities which would otherwise not be available within the standard school budget.
How Are Funds Allocated?
All parents, guardians or carers of pupils and teaching and non-teaching staff currently employed by the school are automatically members of the MCCA and can make a request for funds that will assist the school or the school community.
At the beginning of each school year, the Head Teacher will highlight where fundraising can best assist the school. The duty of the MCCA committee is to work with the Head Teacher to evaluate MCCA funding requirements. A MCCA budget is made for each new school year, incorporating the head teacher’s input and input from parents. The budget is available for everyone to see after the second committee meeting of the year.
Any request for MCCA funds, from either the school or from parents, can be made to the committee, ideally by attending a committee meeting. During this meeting the reasons, benefits and costs are presented. The committee members present then vote and make a decision, based on the majority vote, or request further information. If the vote is carried, the committee can then make the donation. All votes carry an equal weight.
